William Woods Looks For Another AMC Win Against Stephens

Has scored 20 points in six straight games, all in conference play.
FULTON, Mo.- After defeating Park University last night, the No. 23 ranked William Woods University women's basketball team, prepares to square off on the road at Stephens College on Saturday.

These two teams met earlier in the season at home, as the Owls were able to defeat the Stars 75-66. William Woods led 39-32 at the half, and had to fend off a pesky Stephens team in the second half, holding on for the nine point victory.

WWU shot 47% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc, led by Olivia Storjohann whom ended the evening with 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, including going 3-of-4 from the three point line. Paige Stewart chipped in 13 and Katie Scherder added 12 points.

Stephens will have to find an answer for all the Owls shooters, including Priscila Santos, who has scored 20 points or more in her last six games. The junior guard is averaging 15.7 points per game, while shooting 50% from the field. In conference play, Santos is averaging an outstanding 18.7 points per game, while Storjohann is also averaging double-figures at 10.7.

The Stars were led by Kelsey Creed, who totaled 17 points on a perfect night of shooting, going 6-6 from the field, including 5-of-5 from three. Jessica McConnell was second on the team with 15 points and led the team in rebounds with eight.

The Owls are in third place right now in the American Midwest Conference with a record of 12-3, trailing only Lyon and first place Columbia College. After Stephens the team will then travel to Missouri Baptist in another conference showdown on Thursday, before finally meeting up at home against Columbia College on Saturday Feb.23 for Senior Day.
