William Woods Travels To Missouri Baptist On Wednesday

Santos is the reigning AMC Player of the Week after averaging 23.7 points in three games.
FULTON, Mo. -- The threat of inclement weather has pushed the William Woods University women's basketball game with Missouri Baptist University to Wednesday night. Tip-off for the Owls regular season road finale is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The Owls are 22-4 on the year and stand at 12-3 in the American Midwest Conference. William Woods could still end up in a three-way tie for the regular season championship, but because of tie breakers, the Owls can move no higher than the no. 3-seed in next week's AMC Tournament.

William Woods has won six of their last seven games, with the lone loss coming in an overtime thriller at no. 20-ranked Lyon College.

WWU comes into the game averaging 68.3 points per game, despite having only one player averaging double-figures. The Owls are shooting 40.8 percent from the floor this season. Defensively, William Woods is giving up 57.0 points per game as opponents shoot 35.3 percent against them. Both marks are the second-best total in the AMC.

Priscila Santos leads WWU in the scoring column with her 15.9 points per game average. On Monday Santos was honored with her second AMC Player of the Week honor of the year.  The Brazilian native averaged 23.7 points in three games last week, including scoring a career-high 29 points in last Thursday's win over Park University.

The 5-11 forward is has scored at least 20 points in her last seven games, and is averaging 23.3 points during the stretch. The recent outbreak has seen her points per game average go from 13.0 to 15.9.

Missouri Baptist comes into Wednesday's affair in fifth-place tie with Hannibal-LaGrange at 7-9. Overall the Spartans are 10-18, and are on a three-game losing streak.

MBU is scoring an average of 62.1 points per contest on 35.9 percent shooting. Conversely, the Spartans give up 65.9 points per game on 39.1 percent from the floor.

Kristyne Smith leads a trio of double-digit scorers for Missouri Baptist with her 13.4 points per game average.  Smith just had a seven-game double-digit scoring streak snapped on Saturday as she was limited to just eight points against Williams Baptist.

William Woods took the first meeting in Fulton as they earned the 69-43 victory. Santos led all scorers with 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting. The Owls have won the last 12 meetings against the Spartans; the last loss to MBU came on Feb. 9, 2008 in St. Louis. William Woods holds a 43-13 advantage in the series.
