ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The William Woods University women's basketball team had four players score in double-figures to help them defeat Harris-Stowe State University, 75-55, in American Midwest Conference action on Thursday night.

Junior guard Blake French followed up her career-high 21-point performance with a team-high 18 points on Thursday. French had an efficient shooting night by hitting 7-of-11 of her shots to help William Woods (15-7; 8-6 AMC) win back-to-back contest.

For the second straight game the St. Charles, Mo., native was all over the stat sheet, as she collected five rebounds and handed out four assists. It has been a spectacular week for French, as she is averaging a team-best 16.4 points over her last three games which dates back to Thursday's contest at Columbia College.

Destani Stensrud tallied 14 points on the night and was a perfect 3-of-3 from behind the arc. As a team, William Woods hit 10 three-pointers and hit 40 percent of its three-point attempts. The 10 three-pointers were the most made in a game by WWU since its Jan. 18 matchup against Stephens College, and is the fifth time this season that the Owls have hit double-digit trifectas in one game.

Seniors Andraquay Quinnine and Katie Scherder rounded out the double-figure scoring for William Woods, as each player posted 11 points in the win. Quinnine grabbed a team-high nine rebounds on the night, while Scherder led the team in assists with season-high five helpers.

For the second straight game the WWU defense held its opposition to under 60 points, as they allowed Harris-Stowe (7-15; 5-9 AMC) to score just 55 points on 35.7 percent from the field.

Shanique Buford led the Lady Hornets in scoring with a game-high 26-point effort. However, WWU was able to prevent the forward from picking up her 17th double-double, as she grabbed just eight caroms on the night.

Despite holding the AMC's leading rebounder to under double-digits, the Owls still lost the rebounding battle, 42-35. Tiffany Morris led the way for Harris-Stowe in rebound with game-high nine grabs.

KeAris Vaughn was the only other HSSU player in double-figures on the night by finishing the game with 18 points. The guard hit all but one of the team's four three-pointers on the night, as HSSU hit 4-of-16 from behind the arc.

The Owls defense was tough on Harris-Stowe point guard Alexis Minner, as she scored a season-low two points on 1-of-6 from the floor. However, despite the shooting struggles, Minner was still able to hand out a game-high seven assists.

William Woods will now return home and prepare for a crucial AMC contest against Park University on Saturday afternoon. There is just one game separating these two in the AMC standings, and the Owls will need a win on Saturday to help improve their chances of hosting an AMC Tournament game. Tip-off for Saturday's contest is set for 2 p.m.
