Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team picked up its eighth American Midwest Conference (AMC) victory of the season, as the Owls swept St. Louis College of Pharmacy in straight sets (25-21, 25-19, 25-11).

After dropping its fist AMC loss on the season earlier this week, to the No. 8
th ranked Columbia College, the Owls (18-10, 8-1 AMC) knew they needed to bounce back to its winning ways and the team did just that on Thursday night.

As a team, WWU recorded a game-high 46 kills, with an attack percentage of .334 on the night .

In the first set, the Owls had a little bit of wavering start but after back-to-back kills from
Brittney Engelbrecht, the team tied the game 8-8. That would then, kindle a 8-0 run for WWU, capped off by a kill from
Stephanie Davis.

However, STLCOP didn't back down while the Eutectics cut into the Owls lead one point at a time and would tie the set up again at 17-17, after a William Woods attack error.

WWU kept its poise down the stretch of the first set and with help from two timely
Emily Becker kills and a service ace from freshman Tori Wiley, the Owls would take the first set win 25-21.

The Owls collect 15 kills and was led by Davis's five kills, while the Eutectics recorded seven in the first frame.

In the second set, the Owls jumped out to a 11-7Â lead, after
Lauren Rodewald earned a kill and then would gain some breathing room following a Becker ace from the service line, making the score 20-15 in the Owls favor, forcing STLCOP to call a timeout.

Coming out of the timeout, Pharmacy would respond by going on a 4-0 run, to get within one of WWU (20-19) but that would be as close as the Eutectics would get, as the Owls closed the second match on a 5-0 run and secured the 2-0 match advantage with the 25-20 second set win.

The third set, was all William Woods, as the team soared to a 12-3 early lead, after Engelbrecht connected with freshman
Libby Dove on the outside of the court for a kill.

Davis, who had a strong outing for WWU, would extend the Owls lead to 16-7, as she put a ball down on the ten foot line, for her 13
th kill on the night.

The Owls would close the third set on a 9-4 run, going on to secure the 25-11 set and match win over the Eutectics.
Â
WWU posted 12 kills and an game-high .391 attack percentage in the final set, while holding STLCOP to just three kills and forcing them to commit 11 errors.

Davis guided the Owls on the night, as the junior tallied a team-high 13 kills and ended the night with an attack percentage of .474, while Becker chipped in eight kills.
Abby Ferguson and Rodewald also contributed seven and six kills a piece, respectively, while Wiley added five.

Engelbrecht, not only led the team with a game-high 34 assists but also collected a team-high 12 digs, while
Shelby Hinshaw gathered 10 digs.

William Woods will return to action next Tuesday, October 20
th, as the team will step outside its AMC part of schedule to host Benedictine College. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m. from Anderson Arena.
