Men's Soccer Looks To Soar Past Williams Baptist College Saturday Afternoon

Severino looks to continue to lead the Owls offense past WBC
FULTON, Mo. – After back-to-back draws in (2OT), the William Woods University men's soccer team, looks to capture its eighth win on the season and ready to move up in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) standings, as Williams Baptist College pays a visit. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.

The Owls (7-4-3; 3-2-3 AMC), are coming off a 1-1 tie to Hannibal-LaGrange University earlier this week. Between both teams, two goals were scored in the first ten minutes of the game and then not another one for the remaining of the 100:00 minutes of play. It was a hard fought battle, which saw both teams lean on its defensive grounds.

WWU was lead by Harrison Bray, who recorded the Owls lone goal at the 5:26 mark and collected a team-high four shots on the night, while Conor Cable tied his season-high eight saves in goal.

Despite the Owls skid offensively in the past couple games, the team's defense has been a vital key to its success and continues to stay strong. On the season, the Owls have recorded four shutouts on the year, which is tied for fifth best in the AMC. Cable, the sophomore goal keeper has a lot to thank for that, as the Spalding, England native has amassed 47 saves on the year, earning him an impressive .797 goals against average.

Offensively, the Owls forward Alex Severino, continues to sit a top in several categories, which includes goals (seven), shots (36) and points (15). Two other offensive threats the team has up front is Rodrigo Alves and Anthony Moscatello.

However, WWU has been without the service of Alves and his six goals on the year because of a knee injury for the past five games and are in hope to have him return soon. Moscatello, the junior has pushed his season total up to five goals and two assists on the year.

Lendell Louis-Jacques leads the team with eight assists, which is second best in the AMC and ranks him 13 in the nation. The sophomore looks to snap his four game skid and get the Owls offense back to its dominating nature.

Williams Baptist College enters Saturday's game with a 5-5-1 record on the season and currently is 2-4-1 in the AMC.  In the Eagles last outing, the team defeated Freed-Hardeman 2-1, breaking its five game skid.

WBC is lead offensively, by Matheus Allonso in several categories, which includes goals (nine), shots (44) and points (22). He has totaled four assists on the year. Thiago Sooma has also had a strong display on the year, posting five goals, two assists and 26 shots, while Bruno Campos leads the team with five assists.

In the net, Javier Piedra has recorded 55 saves in 892:46 minutes of play, with a goals against average of 2.02.
