Men's Soccer Seeks For Its Second Straight Victory On Wednesday Against LU-Belleville

Moscatello, looks to build off his six goals on Wednesday
FULTON, Mo. – Coming off a thrilling 2-1 (2OT) win last Saturday, the William Woods University men's soccer team looks to carry that momentum into Wednesday's American Midwest Conference (AMC) match-up against Lindenwood University-Belleville. Kick-off is set for 5:00 p.m.

The Owls (8-4-3; 4-2-3 AMC), look to capture its ninth win on the season and a key conference victory, to collect its fifth AMC win to remain the fifth seed in AMC standings.

At last, in WWU electrifying win in its last outing, snapped its three game (2OT) draw, with a 2-1 much needed victory over Williams Baptist College. A game that was a fast paced and physical match-up from start to finish, as combined 53 shots were taken and 37 fouls were committed.

It was the Owls who drew blood first, as Harrison Bray connected with Anthony Moscatello, who tipped the ball and buried his sixth goal on the year, to give WWU the 1-0 lead.

However, in the second frame, the Eagles finally broke through, after a WWU foul awarded WBC a free kick outside the 18 yard box. Diego Santillan, was able to get his shot through the wall and past Bridger Pretz, making it a brand new game at 1-1.

Then after 45:00 minutes of play came to an end, it was off to overtime, which WWU has not been a stranger too, but the score remained the same after the first extra ten minutes and it looked as the game was headed towards another draw for the Owls.

Juan Roman quickly changed that for WWU, as the Santa Cruz, Bolivia native, picked a perfect time to net his first collegiate goal, placing his shot near the post and past a diving WBC goalie, for the 2-1 game winning goal.

On the season. Offensively Alex Severino, Rodrigo Alves and Moscatello have been a menace for many team's defensives this year, as the trio have combined for 20 of the team's 35 goals on the season. Severino, also leads the team with 36 shots and 15 points.

In the net, Bridger is coming off his first win in an Owl jersey, recording a season-high 13 saves, which pushed his season total up to 16 in 311:47 minutes of play.

LU-Belleville enters the match-up against WWU with an 8-6 overall record and a 4-3 AMC record. The Lynx have picked up two consecutive wins, which saw the team cruise past Central Baptist College 4-1 before defeating Southwest Baptist 1-0 last week.

The Lynxes are lead by Leonardo Ferri in several categories, which includes goals (eight), shots (60) and points (20). Another player the Owls will have to keep an eye on is Enrique Garcia, who leads the team with five assists and is second on the team with six goals on the year.

Goalkeeper Nicolas Nicolaci, has recorded 22 saves in 1035:00 saves with a goals against average of 1.13.
