ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University men's soccer game looks to bounce back to its winning ways on Wednesday, as the team pays a visit to Harris-Stowe State University. Kick-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
The Owls (6-4-1; 2-2-1 AMC), are coming off a heart breaking 1-0 deficit to the No. 16 ranked Lyon College last Saturday. A hard fought battle between both teams from the beginning whistle, had WWU ending the day outshooting the Scots 17-11, however, Lyon found the answer in the 69
th minute as they netted the game-winning goal.
As the Owls upset attempt came up short, the team was lead by
Harrison Bray who recorded four shots, while
Conor Cable in the net collected two saves.
On the season,
Alex Severino and
Rodrigo Alves guide the team offensively, with seven and six goals, respectively, while Severino has totaled a team-high 15 points and Alves sits a top on the team with 28 shots on the year.
Lendell Louis-Jacques has had an impressive start to his sophomore year, as the Montreal, Canada native, has amassed eight assists on the year, which is good enough for second best in the American Midwest Conference, while ranking him eighth in the nation.
In between the posts, Cable has pushed his season total saves up to 32 in 716:12 minutes of play, while posting a goals against average of 1.380 on the year.
HSSU enters the game with a 2-7-2 overall record and are 1-3 in the AMC on the season. The Hornets are coming off a 3-1 deficit to Freed-Hardeman University this past weekend, which snapped the team's two consecutive wins.
Offensively, HSSU has three players tied with a team-high of two goals on the season, which includes Alex Ponder, Leopoldo Yoshinari and Lawrence Prograis. Ahmad Ahmad paces the way for the Hornets with three assists and 28 shots, while Dillen Myers has collected 29 saves and earned a goal against average of 1.230 in the net.
