FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's soccer team will look to push its win streak to three in front of a home crowd on Tuesday evening, as the Owls host Central Methodist University at 5:00 p.m.
The Owls (2-1) are coming off a 3-2 road victory against Ottawa University last Saturday. WWU outshot the Braves 17-8, while three of those shots found the back of the net from the foot of senior,
Alex Severino, who collected his first collegiate hat-trick to help guide the team over Ottawa University.
Jesse Jordan came off the bench and added three shots,
Lendell Louis-Jacques and
Rhys Wallace, meanwhile, totaled two shots each.
Conor Cable recorded one save in 66:12 minutes played and
Bridger Pretz appeared in 23:48 minutes of action.
"Anytime you go on the road and come back with a positive result, you are happy," said head coach
Nathan Mason. "Our guys fought hard to earn a win and we will need to use this win to move forward."
Offensively, Severino paces the Owls, as the Wildwood, Missouri native, leads the team in goals (five), shots (11), and points (11), while Louis-Jacques has handed out a team-high three assists and in the net for the Owls, Cable has collected one win on the season, as Pretz has recorded three saves.
Central Methodist University is coming off an 8-10 overall record with a 1-6 record in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) in 2014. In the last meeting between these two teams, WWU came away with a 3-1 victory, as Severino had one of the team's three goals.
The Eagles are currently 3-0-1 on the season, as the team won its first three games of the season outscoring its opponents 8-1, before tying Hannibal-LaGrange University 1-1 (2OT) in its last outing this past weekend.
David Hillmann leads CMU offensively in several categories, which includes goals (four), shots (13) and points (nine), while in the net, Ferran, Borras-Marques has recorded 12 saves and two wins in 304:13 minutes of play.
