Box Score MOBILE, Ala. – The 11th seed William Woods University women's tennis season came to an end on Friday afternoon when they were knocked out of the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship by No. 2 Lindsey Wilson. The Blue Raiders defeated the Owls, 5-0.
 
The Owls women's tennis team, which was cut in 1999 and brought back last year (2015-16), advanced to the semifinals for the first time since the NAIA started tracking national championship appearances in 2000. This is the second straight season the Owls have made the quarterfinals of the national championship.
 
With the loss, the Owls season concludes with a 14-10 record for the 2016-17 season.
 
In doubles action in the semifinals, the Owls trailed early as the Blue Raiders won No. 1 doubles, 8-0. The followed by taking No. 3 doubles, 8-2. William Woods was battling in No. 2 singles with Zlata Shuraeva and Chelsea Steward but the Blue Raiders got the best of them as they defeated the Owls, 8-5. Full double results:

If the Owls would come back they would need to win five of the six singles matches on the day, however, that did not happen. Lindsey Wilson won No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-1, and moments later won No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-3. The other matches did not finish as the Blue Raiders won 5-0. Full single results:
