Volleyball to Host Lindenwood-Belleville in AMC Quarterfinals

FULTON, Mo. ­– The William Woods University volleyball team opens the 2018 American Midwest Conference Tournament Tuesday evening as they host No. 5-seed Lindenwood University-Belleville. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. in Anderson Arena.

Admission is $6.00. William Woods game passes are not valid for postseason play.

AMC Tournament
The 2018 American Midwest Conference Tournament begins tomorrow evening with eight teams competing in the quarterfinals. The eight participating teams are No. 1-seed Park, No. 2-seed Missouri Baptist, No. 3-seed Columbia, No. 4-seed William Woods, No. 5-seed Lindenwood-Belleville, No. 6-seed Freed-Hardeman, No. 7-seed St. Louis Pharmacy and No. 8-seed Lyon.

Lindenwood University-Belleville
LUB is 14-14 on the season and is currently on a seven-game winning streak heading into Tuesday's match. They finished 8-4 in conference play, landing them in fifth place.

The Lynx are led offensively by Kayla Bailey at the net with 222 kills.
 
Last time against the Lynx
The Owls swept LUB earlier this season to extend their winning streak to 12. The Owls finished the 3-0 win with a .253 attack percentage.

The team recorded nine blocks and four service aces, and their attack was led by Tory Wiley with nine kills.  
 
All-time against the Lynx
The first time these two teams met, was on August 30, 2012. William Woods defeated the Lynx in a four set match (25-12, 25-14, 22-25, 25-14).  Sarah Wehmeyer and Emily Becker both recorded double-doubles in the victory. Since then, the Owls have won all but one match and hold a 5-1 series lead over Lindenwood-Belleville.

The Owls finished regular season with a 19-15 overall record and placed fourth in conference play with a 9-3 mark.

Tory Wiley leads the Owls attack with 294 kills, and Kate Doerhoff is just behind her with 264. Remie Johnson is leading the team with 601 assists while Jessica Jensen leads with 502 digs. At the net, Jaclyn Zahn has 129 blocks, and behind the line Rayleen Rivera holds 65 aces.

Melanie Kala recorded her 1,000th career dig early in the season in the 3-0 sweep over Missouri Valley, and Tory Wiley captured her 1,000th career kill in the 3-2 loss to College of the Ozarks on October 25.

The Owls rank 22nd nationally for total blocks with 254. Rayleen Rivera ranks fourth in the nation for service aces (65) and 18th for service aces per game (0.540). Jaclyn Zahn is also ranked nationally, sitting in 14th for total blocks with 129.

Jessica Jensen has earned Defender of the Week in week four and week five.
