Box Score KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The William Woods University men's tennis team, presented by Fulton Medical Center, defeated NCAA Division II Rockhurst University, 7-2, in non-conference tennis action on Sunday afternoon.
 
"I was very pleased with our energy today," stated head coach Justin Stuckey. "We have some things to work on singles wise tactically. Overall though we fought hard and that's all I ask."
 
Rockhurst entered Sunday as the fifth ranked team in the Midwest Region in NCAA Division II. Full results can be found below.
 
WWU came out taking a 2-1 lead after doubles action. WWU took No. 1 as Christian Barbieri/Stefan Simic def. Jonas Stroups/Oscar Unger, 9-7. The Also took No. 2 doubles, 8-4, as Oscar Barreiro/Christopher Vleeming Ortiz def Tarass Thevenaz/Julien Bermudez. WWU dropped third doubles, 8-5.
 
Entering singles with a 2-1 lead, the Owls only dropped one singles match of the day. Christian Barbieri, Oscar Barreiro, Javier Callejo, Christopher Vleeming Ortiz and Nathan Cooke came away with single victories giving the owls the win.
 
William Woods returns to action on February 24th when they travel to Greencastle, Indiana to face No. 5 University of Northwestern Ohio in a neutral site non-conference match.
