Box Score KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The William Woods University women's tennis team, presented by Fulton Medical Center, defeated NCAA Division II Rockhurst University, 5-4, in non-conference tennis action on Sunday afternoon.
"It's great to get a win to start the season," remarked head coach
Justin Stuckey. "We didn't play our best tennis today. We found ways to win matches in tough conditions which was great to see with the ladies."

WWU started out strong as they won all three doubles matches jumping out to a quick 3-0 match lead. In No. 1 doubles

Rockhurst slowly made a comeback and took the lead in singles action as they took No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 singles.
WWU won No. 6 singles when
Felicia Cesar def. Megan Lantz, 6-0, 6-1. With the match tied 4-4, all eyes turned to No. 5 singles.
Chelsea Steward got the clinching point with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Sara Flexbeard.
William Woods returns to action on February 24th when they travel to Greencastle, Indiana to face No. 11 University of Northwestern Ohio in a neutral site non-conference match.
