Box Score GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The No. 4 William Woods University women's tennis team, sponsored by Fulton Medical Center, suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon when they were defeated by 5-3 by No. 11 University of Northwestern Ohio.

The Racers jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the doubles team of Alisa Reshetnikova and Valeriya Kolegova defeated
Julia Perez Wienese and
Julia Mulder, 8-1, in No. 1 doubles. WWU answered back by taking No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The Owls tied the match when they won No. 3 doubles.
Felicia Cesar and
Ana Zavala defeated Naa Ankrah and Frederique Span, 8-4. In No. 2 doubles
Chelsea Steward and
Zlata Shuraeva defeated Camila Puente and Melana Lopez, 8-5, giving the Owls a 2-1 lead.
The Owls tied the match at 2-2 when
Ana Zavala defeated Valeriya Kolegova, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, in No. 3 singles. The lead did not last long for the Owls as the Racers took No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1, taking a 3-2 lead.
Northwestern Ohio's lead went to 4-2 after Alisa Reshetnikova defeated
Zlata Shuraeva, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, in No. 2 singles. WWU trimmed the lead down to 4-3 after
Chelsea Steward won Naa Ankrah, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2, in No. 5 singles.
However, the comeback would not be complete as Camila Puente defeated
Karyna Sagalai 3-6, 6-4, 7-5, in No. 1 singles to clinch the match for the Racers.
The Owls return to action Friday, March 2nd when they travel to Liberty, Missouri to face NCAA Division II William Jewell College. Match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
