Women’s Basketball Travels to Columbia College For AMC Semifinals Saturday

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team travels to Columbia College on Saturday afternoon to face the sixth ranked Cougars in the American Midwest Conference Semifinals. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
 
About the Owls
-The Owls enter the contest with a record of 19-12 on the season and are the fifth seed in the AMC tournament
- WWU is coming off a victory over fourth seed, Lindenwood-Belleville, 86-80, in double-overtime on Thursday night. In the contest, the Owls came back from being down 15 and had three players with a double-double
- William Woods has won its last three contests
- The Owls rank ninth in the nation in free throw percentage as they are making 74 percent of their free throws
- Jasmine Brown is eighth in the NAIA in blocks this season with 55. She is averaging 1.8 blocks per game, which is 12th best in the NAIA
-The Owls have collected 247 steals, with Kaycee Gerald leading the team with 75 in the season
- Kaycee Gerald is also leading the Owls in free throw percentage shooting at 77.4 percent from the line. Jasmine Brown follows shooting at a 75.2 percent.
Hannah Bland is 46th in the NAIA in defensive rebounds per game, averaging 4.96 rebounds per game
-Four Owls are scoring in double figures, Brown leading averaging 14.3 points per game. Peyton Greenlee follows next with 11.9 points per game. Kaycee Gerald is averaging 11.8 and Hannah Bland is averaging 10.1 points per game.
- On the season, the Owls are averaging 68.7 points per game and are shooting 41.6 points per game.
- Opponents are averaging 65.9 points per game against the Owls and are shooting 38.6 percent from the floor

- The Cougars are 26-5 overall and are currently No. 6 in the nation
- CC is coming off a 91-57 victory over Williams Baptist in the AMC Quarterfinals

The winner of the contest, will face the winner of the Freed-Hardeman University and Lyon College contest in the AMC Championship contest on Tuesday, March 6th.
