Box Score LIBERTY, Mo. – The William Woods University women's tennis team defeated NCAA Division II William Jewell College, 6-3, on Friday afternoon in non-conference. The win for the Owls is its second win of the season.

The Owls jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in doubles actions. Chelsea Steward and Zlata Shuraeva won 8-2 in No. 2 doubles. Ana Zavala and Felicia Cesar claimed a victory in No. 3 doubles by a score of 8-2. The only match the Owls was in No. 1 doubles.
 
The match was tied at 2-2 after Hannah Waine defeated Julia Perez Wienese, 6-4, 6-0, in No. 3 singles. Following No. 3 singles, WWU won No. 2 and No. 4 singles taking a 4-2 lead. In No. 2 singles, Shuraeva defeated Becca Richison, 6-3, 6-3. Ana Zavala defeated Whitney Hollaman by the score of 6-3, 6-3, in No. 4 singles.
 
With the 4-2 lead, the Cardinals got its last point when they won No. 1 singles. Following losing No. 1 singles, WWU took the final two matches. Felicia Cesar clinched the win for the Owls with a 6-4, 6-0, in No. 5 singles. Chelsea Steward won No. 6 singles, 6-2, 7-5, over Morgan Holopinek.
 
WWU returns to action on March 4th when they travel to Columbia, Kentucky to face No. 2 Lindsey Wilson College at 10:30 a.m.
