Women’s Tennis Closes Spring Break Trip with Two Victories

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The William Woods University women's tennis team, presented by Fulton Medical Center, closed out its 2018 spring break trip with two victories. WWU defeated Methodist University, 7-2, and closed out the day with a 9-0 victory over Eastern Nazarene College.
 
WWU returns to action on Saturday, March 17th when they host Freed-Hardeman University at the Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex.
 
Methodist (WWU 7-2 Victory)
The Owls opened the day with a 7-2 victory over Methodist University. Full Results are listed below.
 
WWU came out and claimed the first two points of the match. Julia Mulder and Abigail Lemberger took No. 3 doubles, 8-5. Zlata Shuraeva and Ana Zavala followed by taking No. 2 doubles, 8-5. Methodist claimed No. 1 doubles, 9-7, and the Owls lead 2-1 heading to singles.
 
William Woods increased its lead to 3-1 after Felicia Cesar won No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1, over Han Le. Methodist took the next point in singles when they claimed No. 1 singles. WWU did not let Methodist collected another point in the match.
 
Karyna Sagalai put the Owls head 4-2, with a 6-4, 6-1 victory in No. 2 singles. Julia Mulder clinched the win for the Owls with a 6-3, 6-4 victory in NO. 4 singles. Abigail Lemberger followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in No. 5 singles. Paige Smith closed out the day for the Owls with an 8-2 victory in No. 6 singles.

The Owls closed its spring trip with a 9-0 victory over Eastern Nazarene University on Thursday afternoon. Full results are located below.
 
Karyna Sagalai and Paige Smith teamed up in No. 3 doubles taking the first point of the Owls as they won 8-0. Zlata Shuraeva and Ana Zavala were the next doubles match to finish as they won No. 1 doubles, 8-1. Julia Mulder and Abigail Lemberger closed out the doubles sweep for the Owls with an 8-1 victory in No. 2 doubles.
 
Lemberger claimed the fourth point for the Owls as she defeated Lindsey Steelman, 6-1, 6-2, in No. 3 singles. Julia Mulder clinched the win for the Owls as she won 6-1, 6-0, in No. 2 singles.
 
WWU continued to win its matches as Julia Perez Wienese won No. 1 singles, 3-6, 6-1, 10-8. Paige Smith followed with a 6-1, 6-1, victory in No. 4 singles. Bente Peterson won in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Kati Honigman claimed the final point for the Owls with an 6-4, 6-0, in No. 6 singles.
