FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University Volleyball returns to Anderson Arena Tuesday, August 28th as they host Missouri Valley College. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
About the Vikings
Last season, the Vikings advanced to the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship where they suffered a loss to Indiana Wesleyan University in a three set match (25-23, 25-15, 25-17). Missouri Valley enters the contest 4-1 for 2018 season, with all four coming from the St. Thomas University Tournament that took place Aug. 24th-25th. Their only loss was their season opener where they fell short to No. 14 Columbia College in a three set match.
Last Year Against the Vikings
Last year the Owls and Vikings met at the Missouri Valley Tournament. At the time, Missouri Valley was ranked No.22 overall in the NAIA Women's Volleyball rankings. The Vikings would take the match winning in three sets (25-17, 25-16, 25-18).

Tory Wiley (5) led the Owls in kills, while
Jessica Jensen totaled in 13 digs for WWU.
All-Time vs. Missouri Valley
The Owls hold a 25-12 all-time record against the Vikings. A win tomorrow will mark the first time since 2009 that William Woods has defeated Missouri Valley. The two teams met October 15, 2009 at the William Woods University Triangular, where they Owls snatched a three set match over the Vikings, (25-17, 25-13, 25-13)

William Woods enters the contest coming off a three set victory over Benedictine College (Kan.) (25-21, 25-23, 25-18). WWU's

Melanie Kala (12),
Jessica Jensen (12) and
Brooke Reed (8) led William Woods in digs.
Remie Johnson would led WWU with 19 assists in the contest.
Seeking First Home Win
The Owls will be looking for their first home win of the 2018 season. Last season the Owls recorded their first home win September 12, 2017, as they defeated Hannibal-LaGrange in a three match set. (25-14, 25-18, 25-11).
1000 Career Digs
Senior
Melanie Kala is looking for her 1,000 career dig this week. Kala enters Tuesday's game with 995 digs over her four years at WWU. She has 19 digs this season. When Kala reaches 1,000 it will be the second straight season the Owls players reach this milestone.
What's Next
Following the Missouri Valley contest, the Owls travel to Bellevue, Nebraska to participate in the GoSarpy.com Labor Day Classic hosted by Bellevue University. The Owls open play Friday at 9 a.m. against IU at South Bend before finishing the day with No. 2 Dordt (Iowa) at 5 p.m.
