Box Score FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's tennis teams fall scheduled continued on Sept. 12th when they hosted the WWU Doubles Invitational at the Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex.

Starting off the day,
Abigail Lemberger and
Asami Terajima advanced to the quarterfinals with a with an 8-5 victory over Laura Castro Milan and Dana Minakova. The only other match of the first round was WWU's
Chelsea Steward and
Korina Zarari defeating Steffany Bermudez and Nicole Uzcategui, 8-2.
WWU had five teams in the quarterfinals of the invite. Steward and Zarari defeated the Owls team of Lemberger and Terajima, 8-0.
The Owls team of
Zlata Shuraeva and
Ana Zavala made its first appearance of the day with an 8-0 victory over Haya Hamed and Alexis McCarthy. With the win Shuraeva and Zavala faced Steward and Zarari in the semifinals. IN the semifinals match, Steward and Zarari edged Shuraeva and Zavala, 9-7, advancing to the finals.
On the bottom half of the bracket,
Paige Smith and
Julia Perez Wienese won its quarterfinals match, 8-5, over Natalia Cordero and Fernanda Poblete. They would play the winner of the
Felicia Cesar/
Karyna Sagalai and
Kati Honigman/Jessica Molinari match.
The final quarterfinals match featured three WWU players and one McKendree player. The team of Cesar and Sagalai won 8-3. In the semifinals match, the Owls team of Smith and Perez Wienese defeted Cesar and Sagalai, 9-7, advancing to the finals.
In the finals, Steward and Zarari came away with an 8-4 victory over Smith and Perez Wienese. In the third place matchup, Shuraeva and Zavala came away with an 8-2 victory.
The Owls return to action on Sept. 20-22 when they travel to Milwaukee, Wis. to participate in the ITA Central Regional Championships.
