RV Owls Play Host to Williams Baptist Saturday

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team plays host to Williams Baptist University on Saturday, February 2. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.

About Williams Baptist 
WBU is coming off a two losses with their most recent coming at No. 2 Columbia College. The Eagles will close out their four-game road series at William Woods Saturday. 

WBU currently sits in sixth place in the AMC with a 9-7 conference mark. On the season, they are 13-8.

Blessing Samuel is leading the Eagles in both scoring and rebounds. She is averaging 13.3 points per game and 9.1 boards per game. Her 9.14 rebounds per game ranks her second in the conference. Also averaging double digit points per game for the Eagles is Kate Junkersfeld. 
 
The team is ranked 12thin the nation in blocks per game as they average 4.19. Teara Walker leads the conference with 2.1 blocks per game and currently sits ninth in the nation for blocks per game and 10thin total blocks with 44.

Melanie McKuin leads the conference in steals per game with a 2.38 average. 
 
As a team, the Eagles have 11 top-50 national rankings and 14 individual rankings.
 
 
About William Woods
The Owls are coming off a two-point loss to No. 1 Freed-Hardeman University Thursday evening. The Owls challenged the No. 1 team in the fourth quarter, doubling their score to attempt at the upset. The Owls currently sit in fourth place in the AMC with an 11-6 conference mark. Overall, they are 15-8 on the season. 
 
Kasey Hazell produced her third double-double performance of the season in the loss, pulling down 15 boards while scoring 10. Kaycee Gerald shot .500 from the field to score a team-high 15 points while Peyton Greenlee added 12. Just five points came from bench players in the game.

Greenlee continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 14.1 points per game. She broke into the 1,000 Point Club in the dominating win over Harris-Stowe on January 22. Coach Dan Chapla also became the winningest coach in WWU program history with that win.
 
Kaycee Gerald is leading the Owls in rebounds per game with 6.7 and is closing in on her 1,000th point. She needs just 36 points to become the 25thmember of the 1,000 Point Club. In the national rankings, she sits 25th in total steals with 49 and 32nd in total assists with 79. 
 
The Owls are highly ranked as a defensive team. They sit 12th in the nation as they hold opposing teams to just 56.783 points per game. They are 16th in field goal percentage defense, holding opposing teams to a .357 shooting percentage. They average 28.9 defensive rebounds per game, ranking them 17th in the nation.

The Owls hold a 25-17 series lead over the Eagles.

WBU defeated WWU in their first outing of the season, pulling a 61-52 win over the Owls. WBU dominated the Owls in the first quarter, holding the team to just two points over the 10 minutes of play.

The Owls take a week off before hosting Harris-Stowe State University on Saturday, February 9. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
