Box Score FULTON, Mo. – With four of the starting six players out of the line-up due to injury, the No. 6 William Woods women's tennis team fell short in their match versus Emporia State on Tuesday afternoon, losing 5-2.

The Hornets took four singles matches, while the Owls held their own at the No. 1 and No. 2 spot. Zlata Shuraeva picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win in line one singles to give the Owls their first point of the match. At No. 2 singles, Felicia Cesar battled out a 6-7, 6-3, 10-6 victory.
 
To clinch the match, Emporia State secured a win at No. 3 doubles. The Owls No. 1 doubles team, consisting of Shuraeva and Cesar, were ahead 4-1 when the match was stopped due to weather. Paige Smith and Asami Terajima were down 5-0 in the No. 2 spot when the match was suspended. 
 
With a hopeful healthy line-up, the Owls will look for their first win on the road against Freed-Hardeman on March 15. The Owls will then face No. 18 Cumberland University (Tenn.) March 16 in Lebanon, Tenn.
