Box Score LEBANON, Tenn. – The No. 6 William Woods University women's tennis team narrowly defeated No. 13 Cumberland University (Tenn.), 5-4. With the Owls' second win in as many days, they move to 2-3 on the season.

The Owls held a 2-1 lead after doubles play concluded. The Paige Smith, Perez duo in the No. 2 slot finished first in doubles play with an 8-5 win. Ana Zavala and Zlata Shuraeva in the No. 2 doubles finished second, falling 8-3. Felicia Cesar and Chelsea Steward closed out the doubles play in the No. 3 slot with an 8-5 win.
 
The Owls grabbed three wins in singles play in the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 spots to seal the Owls second win. Ana Zavala defeated her opponent in the No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-4. In the No. 5 spot, Chelsea Steward won, 6-2, 6-0. Karyna Sagalai grabbed the fifth and final win in the No. 6 slot with two 6-0 sweeps.
 
The Owls return home for their second home contest against William Jewell College on Tuesday, March 19, at 3 p.m.
