Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 6 William Woods University women's tennis team swept RV Missouri Valley College in the championship match of the 2019 AMC/HAAC Championships. The 5-0 win was their third sweep of the tournament, giving them the automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships.
The Owls defeated Lindenwood University-Belleville in the first round and Baker University in the second round.
The Owls will now compete in the NAIA National Championships beginning on Tuesday, May 14, in Mobile, Ala.
Felicia Cesar and
Chelsea Steward in the No. 3 doubles swept their opponent, 8-0. In the No. 1 doubles,
Zlata Shuraeva and
Ana Zavala won 8-1, and Julie Perez Wienese and
Karyna Sagalai in the No. 2 doubles grabbed the third point with an 8-3 win.
In singles play, Cesar defeated her opponent in the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 6-1. Earning the fifth and final point in the No. 5 singles was Sagalai with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
