KANSAS CITY, Mo. —The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 1,939 teams that have earned the distinction for Scholar-Teams for the 2018-19 academic year, and William Woods Athletics placed 16 teams on the list.

For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade-point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.

Representing the fall sports were men's cross country, women's cross country, men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball.

Representing the winter sports were women's basketball, men's indoor track and field, and women's indoor track and field.

Representing the spring sports were baseball, men's golf, women's golf, men's outdoor track and field, women's outdoor track and field, softball, men's tennis, and women's tennis.

The volleyball team recorded the highest GPA with a 3.720.

Individually, 34 student-athletes picked up Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards, and 158 student-athletes were named to the Academic All-AMC team this season. 
 
During the spring semester, the department grade point average (GPA) was 3.25. This marks the eighth straight semester the department has finished with a GPA above a 3.2, while it's 17 semesters in a row with a GPA above 3.0. Fifty-six student-athletes recorded a 4.0 GPA this spring.
