SILVIS, Ill. – Logan Smith shot two under par through round one of the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship to sit in a four-way tie for first-place, and the William Woods team shot 28 over par for a 312 on day one to sit tied for 24th place out of 30 teams. The Owls teed off on the back nine at TPC at Deere Run in the afternoon group. 
 
The Owls will play round two starting on hole one at 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19. 
 
Smith, the AMC Individual Champion and Player of the Year, shot two under par with five birdies to finish in a four-way tie for first place. He opened the day with a birdie on hole 10. He went up by one stroke over the next two holes with two bogeys, but shot a birdie on hole 13 to go back to par. After four pars, he ended the back nine with a bogey to finish one over par. On the front nine, he began with a par. On hole two's par five, he shot a birdie to even his score. After three more pars, he shot a birdie on hole six to go one under. He closed out the round with two pars and a birdie on hole nine to shoot three under on the front nine.
 
Jakub Dymecki shot five over on day one with three birdies to sit in 50th place with a 76. He opened the day with a double bogey and a bogey to put him up by three. After four pars, he shot two birdies to bring him down to just one stroke over par. On hole 18, he shot a bogey to finish the back nine two over par, 38. He shot a birdie and two pars to start the front nine, leaving him one over par with six holes to play. With his second double bogey, he went up three strokes, but he closed out the round with three pars and two bogeys to shoot three over on the front nine.
 
Maxime Faure shot 12 over on the day to sit tied for 136th with an 83. He started the day with a par and went up by one stroke with a bogey on the next hole. Three pars and a birdie put him up by two strokes, but he finished the back nine with a par and two bogeys to go head to the front nine with a 42. He shot two pars to start the front nine followed by a double bogey to go up by eight strokes. After a par on hole four, he shot a bogey to go up by 10. He recovered with two pars and closed out the round with two bogeys.
 
Pheemawat Winomrat shot 13 over on the day to sit tied for 143rd with an 84. He had a rough start to the day, quickly going up by eight strokes over the first four holes. Once adjusted, he closed out the second part of the back nine with three pars and two bogeys to sit up by 10 strokes. He shot two bogeys and a par to start the front nine. Over the next three holes, he shot two pars and a birdie to drop to 11 strokes over. He closed out the round with two pars and a double bogey, shooting just three over on the front nine. 
 
Philipp Heller shot an 86 on round one to sit tied for 147th.  He started out the day with two pars, but a double bogey on hole 12 followed by a bogey put him up by three. He finished out the back nine with three pars and two bogeys to head to the front nine five over. He had a rough second half of the day, shooting 10 over on the front nine with a birdie, two pars, three bogeys, one double bogey and two triple bogeys.
