Thomas Record Double-Double in Tonight’s Win Over Stephens

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Sophomore Natalie Thomas recorded a double-double in this evening's victory over Stephens College on the road, 53-35. The Owls improve to 6-14 and 3-7 on the AMC.
 
They continue their road series with a game on Saturday versus RV Columbia College at 1 p.m.
 
By The Numbers
65 – The Owls shot 65 percent from the FT line (13-20).
18 – Natalie Thomas scored a floor-high of 18 points going 9-14 on the FT line to record her first double-double of the season.
10 – Sydney Booker added 10 points. Thomas pulled up ten boards with nine coming from the defensive end.
6 - Kasey Hazell added both six points and six rebounds. Booker recorded six rebounds.
 
Game Flow
Both teams were unable to score for 3:30 until the stars made a jump shot. The lead bounced back-and-forth during the first quarter and the Owls were trailing 5-6 with 1:59 left until Amaya Keeling hit a three to score the final points of the quarter, 8-6.
 
The stars scored the first four points of the second quarter but two jump shots from Kiyanna Rodgers and Kasey Hazell plus a three from Katie Keilholz grabbed the lead to the Owls for the first time on the second period, 15-12 with 4:07 left. The stars had an 8-4 run to end the period with a 24-19 lead.
 
After a foul on Natalie Thomas, she made both free-throws to tie the game once again 25-25 with 5:52 left on the third quarter. The stars attempted a field goal that was blocked by Thomas who grabbed the rebound passing to Sydney Booker who added four points to grab the lead 29-25. Jheda Kennedy made two free-throws and Keilholz added another three to extend their lead in the end of the third quarter to 38-28. The Owls outscored the stars 19-4.
 
A three from Thomas followed by a fast break in the paint by Kennedy gave the Owls a 19-point lead with 4:35 left in the game. Thomas scored the final four points of the game to give the Owls a 53-35 win.
