FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team used a dominating 20-11 fourth quarter to lift them over Harris-Stowe State University Sunday afternoon, 54-51. The Owls improve to 8-15 on the season with a 5-8 conference mark following the two-win weekend.
Sydney Booker recorded her fourth double-double of the season in the win.
The Owls enter a three-game road stretch, starting with a weekday game at University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on Tuesday, Feb. 8. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.

Kasey Hazell hit a jumper to start the game. A three from
Kiyanna Rodgers followed by a free throw from
Sydney Booker gave the Owls a four-point lead with 7:09 on the clock, 6-2. HSSU evened the score twice, and they closed out the final 3:42 with a 9-2 run to take a 17-12 lead.
HSSU extended their lead to seven coming into the second quarter. It took the Owls over three minutes to get on the board as
Natalie Thomas hit a three to cut the game to four, 19-15. HSSU kept the lead and extended the game to seven, but a three from Rodgers cut the game back to four with 1:51 on the clock, 24-20. Booker scored the final points of the half with two good free throws to keep their deficit at four, 26-22.
The Owls evened the score four minutes into the second half off a 6-0 run with four points coming from Booker, 28-28. HSSU answered with a 6-0 run of their own, but the Owls responded with a second 6-0 run with four points again from Booker. HSSU hit two threes in the final two minutes to take a six-point lead heading into the final 10 minutes, 40-34.

The Owls blasted a 13-2 run through a five-minute span to take a one-point lead with 3:37 on the clock, 47-46. The two teams traded possession over the next minute, and a layup from
Kasey Hazell put the Owls back in the lead with 2:15 on the clock, 51-50. Booker extended the Owls' lead to three following two good free throws with 15 seconds to play, and a block from
Amaya Keeling just before the buzzer helped the Owls to the 54-51 win.
