FULTON, Mo. - The William Woods women's volleyball team took two out of three matches at the William Woods Midseason Quad on Friday and Saturday. The Owls defeated Georgetown College on Friday night 3-0, fell to Judson University 3-2 on Saturday morning, but bounced back with a win over Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday night 3-0.
Georgetown College - W 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 28-26)
• The Owls jumped out to a 9-2 lead in set one and rode that to a 25-15 victory.
• In set two the Tigers got off to a fast start leading 4-1, the Owls would score the next six points to go up 7-4. At 11-8 WWU would score nine of the next 13 points to take a commanding 20-12 lead, winning the set 25-13.
• A back and forth third set saw the match tied at 12 apiece, GC would have their largest lead of the setup up 17-13. WWU would not go away tying the match 20-20 after a
Lanie Lowry service ace. GC would get to set point one at 25-24 but WWU would score two straight to go up 26-25.After trading points the Owls were able to finish put the match away on match point two as a
Lauren Adams kill put away the Tigers.
Kassidy Phillips led the Owls with 12 kills hitting .346,
Luciana Paiva Pereira had 8 kills while
Lauren Adams had 7 kills.
Erin Treis finished with 20 assists,
Audra Gray with 10.
Lauren Hiestand had 16 digs in the match. The Owls finished with 39 kills, 43 digs, and 11 blocks. William Woods improved to 18-7 on the season.

Judson University - L 3-2 (17-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 14-16)
• Judson came into the match winners of 14 out of their last 15, including an upset win over #13 Columbia College on Friday night. The Eagles came out hot taking a 13-7 lead which they would not relinquish, taking set one 25-17.
• In a closely contested second set the Owls tied it up early at 9-9. After an Adams kill got the Owls to within one at 20-19, JU scored five out of the next six points to take set two 25-20.
• As we have seen all year this WWU team would not go away as they dominated set three leading by as many as six points and taking the set 25-20. The same could be said for set four as the Owls again led by as many as seven points taking that set 25-20 as well.In sets three and four the Owls had 31 kills hitting .209 and .174 while also holding JU to just 20 kills hitting .136 and .049.
• For the seventh time this season the Owls were able to push the match to five sets (5-1 in the previous six). WWU got off to a hot start as an attacking error gave the Owls a 9-7 lead. JU scored the next two to tie the fifth set at 9-9 and the deadlock continued to 14-14 before JU could finish off the match with the last two points to take the set 16-14 and the match 3-2.
The Owls finished with 65 kills, 9 aces, 12 blocks, and 86 digs. Phillips finished as the leader in kills with 16, Adams and Paiva Pereira each had 13.
Federica Borsero finished the match with six blocks, Treis had 29 assists, and Hiestand was the team leader in digs with 26. WWU drops to 18-8 on the season.
Olivet Nazarene University - W 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 26-24)
• For the second time this year the Tigers and Owls matched up (WWU defeated ONU 3-0 back on August 26th). A back and forth first set saw the match tied at 16-16 before WWU would pull away and take the set 25-22 on a Phillips kill.
• Set 2 saw the Owls lead by as many as points taking the set 25-17. WWU would score the final four points of the set.The Owls had 15 kills and just two errors in the set.
• Another closely contested set in set 3 as the match was tied at 22. ONU would have set point at 24-22 before the Owls scored the final four points of the set to take it 26-24 and the match 3-0.
WWU finished with 47 kills on 126 total attacks and just 13 errors (.270 hitting percentage). The Owls again reaching the double digit block total with 11 (Adams 8, Phillips 5, Lowry 4). Phillips finished with 12 kills and Adams had 10. Treis led with 21 assists, and Hiestand had 16 digs. The Owls improved to 20-8 on the season.
