ROLLA, Mo. – The William Woods University men's track and field team opened the 2023 outdoor season at the Miner Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T. The Owls finished with 18 PRs, 13 top-20 finishes and three names in the William Woods record book.
 

Sprints

• Ian Schwierjohn placed 16^th in the 800m run with a 2:03.54 time.
• The Owls had five compete in the 100m dash led by Isaiah Buse who placed 24^th.
• Isaiah Buse also led the way in the 200m dash with a 23.80 time for 28^th place.

 
Hurdles

• Easton Ambler placed 10^th in the 110m hurdles with a 16.62 time. He set a new PR in the 400m hurdles with his 16^th place, 1:01.18 time.
• Riley Solan tied for third in the WWU record book in both the 110m hurdles (11^th - 16.71) and the 400m hurdles (58.59).
• Rodney Cherilus placed 15^th overall in the 110m hurdles with an 18.53 time and 18^th overall in the 400m hurdles with a 1:03.96 time.

 
Distance

• Jenson Starr moved to second in the WWU record book in the 5000m run with his third place, 15:24.30 run. Freddy Zheng placed 18^th in his first collegiate run.
• Dustin Russell placed sixth in the 3000m steeplechase with an 11:01.87 time.
• Ian Schwierjohn placed 16^th in the 1500m run with a 4:09.49 time.

 
Relays

• The 4x400m relay team, comprised of Riley Solan, Rodney Cherlius, Zachary Knopf, Carlos Gomez placed fourth with a 3:39.14 time.

 
Jumps

• Jacob Polacek set a new PR in the high jump with his 11^th place, 1.73m jump.

 

 

The Owls next compete at the CMU Invite hosted by Central Methodist University on March 31 - April 1.
