WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - After a hard-fought first quarter, William Woods (9-8, 3-5 AMC) struggled to score in the second quarter as Williams Baptist (14-4, 7-2 AMC) pulled away and held off a third-quarter comeback attempt by WWU.
In the opening quarter the Owls were able to tie it up 4-4 after a slow start, as
Sydney Booker knocked down a jumper with 6:33 to play. WBU scored the next five points before a
Katie Keilholz three pointer cut the deficit to two. The teams continued to trade baskets, with
Jersee Wren able to knock down a jumper to cut the deficit to 13-11 with 2:46 left in the quarter.
The basket was the last for Woods until the 5:52 mark of the second quarter, a
