William Woods University's
Pamela Durazo earned her fifth accolade this season, with her latest being the most outstanding of all, named the Owls' first American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NAIA All-American in eight years, as an honorable mention middle blocker chosen by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee and officially announced Wednesday.
On top of being WWU's first AVCA All-American since Brittney Engelbrecht's honorable mention honor in 2016, Durazo is the Owls' sixth-ever selection and fifth All-American player. Woods' Emily Becker was named an All-American in back-to-back seasons, 2014-15. Durazo could accomplish that next year, as she has one more year of eligibility remaining.
The 2024 AVCA NAIA All-American class includes 42 players —14 on the first, second, and third teams — from 28 schools. An additional 57 players were honorable mention selections.
Filling up the stat sheet with remarkable offensive blocking tallies, Durazo posted 401 points (team-high), 289 kills with a .409 hitting percentage (team-high and fourth in the NAIA), 118 blocks (team-high and second in the American Midwest Conference) and 46 aces (team-high) over 127 sets this season. Those numbers also helped Durazo to become AMC Newcomer of the Year, AVCA first-team All-Midwest Region as a middle blocker, first-team All-AMC and AMC All-Tournament in 2024.
