ST. LOUIS, Mo. - On the strength of a 15-6 record and a ranking as the no. 9 NAIA women's singles player in the country,
Hanna Lindeboom was named the AMC/Heart/SAC Women's Tennis Player of the Year as announced prior to the 2024 AMC/Heart/SAC NAIA Championship Qualifier on Wednesday.
Lena Greefs was also recognized as a first team all-conference performer alongside Lindeboom.
Marta Calvo Larraz,
Kristina Dimitrijevic and
Mireia Simon Sanchez were recognized as second team all-conference honorees for singles as well. All three Owls doubles pairings earned all-conference nods on the women's side, with Greefs/
Marcelina Kotylak and Lindeboom/Calvo Larraz locking down first team honors and
Sophia Hausner/Dimitrijevic earning second team recognition.
Woods qualified as the no. 1 seed for the tournament with a 9-6 record and is ranked no. 16 in the final NAIA Coaches Top 25 Ratings released on Wednesday. The Owls are ranked no. 18 in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis Point, also released on Wednesday.
The Owls advance to the semifinals with a bye and will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between no. 4 seed John Brown and no. 5 seed Missouri Valley. Doubles play begins at 2:30 p.m.
