FULTON, Mo.- William Woods dual-sport athlete Mariah Prince and men's wrestling's Elijah Brocksmith were named student-athlete of the month.
Prince, a standout player on both the hardwood and the diamond, had an amazing month and a half. The forward tallied 134 points and 111 reb while recording three double-doubles. The highlight of the month for Prince was being named Heart of America Athletic Conference and NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week for her triple-double performance against Park University that saw her score 22 points while wrangling 10 steals and 10 rebounds.
Brocksmith, a Fulton native, has been stellar on the mat throughout the early part of the season earning a 6-1 record. With his near undefeated record, he was an individual champion at the Drury Open hosted by NCAA DII Drury University in Springfield, Mo.
William Woods University Student-Athlete of the Month Honors are awarded to the student-athletes who received the most votes. Each month, athletes are nominated by faculty, staff and school personnel. These nominees are placed into the voting system and are selected based on the results of a panel of seven senior members of the athletic department.
