YORK, Neb.- After canceling their competition last weekend, the Owls traveled to York University to participate in the Crown Classic on Friday afternoon.
"We had some injuries to hurdle on the cheer side as we took on our second competition weekend of the season." said head coach Toni Snyder. "We were grateful enough to have alternates to fill in some of these spots, and versatile athletes to move around into new positions in the routine. With the time crunch that we were operating on, we did what we could to create a routine for this weekend. We are hoping to have more of our members back to full health as we head to MidAmerica Nazarene next weekend."
The Owls, coming off a fourth-place finish in the Viking Challenge, tallied a score of 59.92 at the Crown Classic. This score placed them 11th out of 14 total teams.
William Woods Dance, competing in just their second ever competition, was able to score 58.67 on their routine.
"Our Owl Dancers put out the best performance that they have yet for the season. The judges at this competition were more particular, resulting in a lower score. But they gave us lots of feedback for us to work on as we head into MNU next weekend." said Coach Snyder. "This team is dedicated to putting out a better routine each week as we quickly head towards the AMC Conference Championship and NDA College Nationals."
The Woods heads to MidAmerica Nazarene next weekend to grow their competitive experience, and build going into conference competition.
