Box Score OTTAWA, Kan. - Wrapping up its inaugural season-opening three-game Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference road trip, William Woods University's (0-3, 0-3 KCAC) Evonne Bruestle recorded the first sack in program history as the Owls fell 48-0 to Ottawa University (6-0, 3-0), winners of the first four NAIA national championships, Saturday at AdventHealth Field.

Regardless of the result, the Owls had a couple of strong defensive displays: Bruestle recorded a co-team-high three tackles (one tackle for loss), while Olivia Perkins had a co-team-high three tackles, one interception and one pass breakup.

Perkins also shined on the offensive side for William Woods, catching six passes for a team-high 28 yards. Makenzie Hicks went 22-39 through the air for 92 yards and one interception. Madi Jones notched the Owls' longest reception, 10 yards, and snagged two passes in total for 19 yards. 

The Owls held the Braves off the scoreboard in the third quarter, but Ottawa had 21 in the first, 14 in the second and 13 in the fourth.

William Woods tallied 86 yards of total offense (92 passing yards and -6 rushing yards), intercepted one pass and had five penalties for 24 yards. Ottawa registered 275 yards of total offense (284 passing yards and -9 rushing yards), scored seven passing touchdowns, intercepted one pass with an 11-yard return and posted three penalties for 14 yards. 

Up next, the Owls host Graceland University (3-0, 2-0 KCAC) in their first-ever home game at 6 p.m. Wednesday at North Campus Athletic Complex in Fulton.
