KANSAS CITY, Mo. -
Vinny DeMarco one-upped his William Woods University history-making Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week massively, becoming the first Owl in quite some time to earn a NAIA player of the week award as he was named NAIA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, announced the association Tuesday.
The senior had a week, leading the Owls' high-powered offense to a pair of dominant wins. Between the two home games, DeMarco tallied 16 goals and six assists for 22 points, with one of the goals against Clarke University coming on a man-down situation. He also fired off 35 shots, with 23 finding the frame.
DeMarco has commanded The Woods' offense on its inaugural season, registering a team-best 49 goals (eighth in NAIA), 22 assists (14th in NAIA), 71 points (sixth in NAIA), 138 shots (third in NAIA) and 82 shots on goal (sixth in NAIA).
Keiser University's Lucas Green, defensive player of the week, joined DeMarco as the NAIA men's lacrosse players of the week. Men's lacrosse players of the week are selected based on performances from April 7-14 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated group nominees.
