FULTON, Mo. - William Woods (2-13, 2-8 Heart) women's basketball ran into a tough MidAmerica Nazarene squad Wednesday night, falling 85–42 at Anderson Arena.
The visiting Pioneers (13-3, 9-1 Heart) controlled the pace from the opening tip, jumping out early and never looking back. The Owls could not get any offense going as the Pioneers' defense stood tall against the Owls. With that, the Owls would head into the halftime down on the scoreboard, looking to get back in the second half.
With Woods' limited numbers and a stout defense from the Pioneers, the second half was more of the same, as nothing seemed to fall for the Owls. Mya Pflasterer led the charge offensively for the Owls with a team-high 19 points, and Mariah Prince had 9 points and 7 rebounds. Despite the effort, WWU struggled to find a consistent offense against MidAmerica Nazarene and would drop the Heart of America Conference game 85-42.
William Woods will look to bounce back as conference play continues against the Clarke Pride in Anderson Arena, with a noon tip scheduled for Saturday.
