LEBANON, Ill.- William Woods women's tennis turned in a competitive performance on the road Tuesday afternoon but came up short in a 4-2 loss at McKendree.
The Owls opened the match strong in doubles, picking up the early point behind wins at the top two positions. Samya Sikand and Charlotte Ready set the tone with a convincing 6-2 victory at number 1 doubles, while Zara Littlejohn and Kristina Dimitrijevic followed with a 7-5 win at number 2.
In singles, William Woods earned a key point in the three spot as Chloe Hecker delivered a straight-set win, 6-3, 6-2, to secure her point. The Bearcats, however, controlled the remaining matches, taking four singles wins to clinch the match.
The Owls return February 8th at Quincy University.
