FULTON, Mo.— William Woods Athletics names Roberta Carlos da Silva and Jalen Becerra as Student-Athlete of the Month Honorees.
Carlos da Silva, a senior outside from Brazil, paced the volleyball team with 78 kills through eight games. She also added 7 assists from the back row as Woods continues to battle through a tough stretch of Heart of America Conference play.
Becerra, a senior wideout from Leader, Texas, had a stellar month on the gridiron. In four contests, Becerra tallied 393 yards and seven touchdowns through the air. He also added a touchdown on the ground to bring his total to eight. Becerra's three touchdown game against Mount Mercy University earned him William Woods' second-ever Heart Offensive Player of the Week honors.
William Woods University Student-Athlete of the Month Honors are awarded to the student-athletes who received the most votes. Each month, athletes are nominated by faculty, staff, and school personnel. These nominees are placed into the voting system and are selected based on the results of a panel of seven senior members of the athletic department.
