Fulton, Mo.— William Woods golf sweeps Student-Athlete of the Month honors with Josie Arms (women's) and Victor Vella (men's) bringing home the honors.
Arms, a sophomore from Columbia, had an excellent month of October. She finished the month with a T-1st place finish at the CC Cougar Invite with a +13 scoreline. She earned an eighth-place finish at the highly reputable Virginia McCoy Invitational, which featured top talent from across the region. Opening the month, Arms shot +15 at the Missouri Baptist Open which was good enough for a sixth-place finish. Arms was awarded Heart of America Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week for her finish at Columbia College.
Vella, also a Heart of America Golfer of the Week honoree in October, was excellent throughout the month as well. The highlight of the month was a four-under-par performance at The National Golf Club in the Virginia McCoy Invitational that earned him first in the competitive tournament. At Columbia College, Vella shot even over the two-day event, which was good enough for a T-3 finish; just two strokes behind the leader. In the first tournament of the month, Vella shot two-over at the Missouri Baptist Open which found him in a T-5 place spot.
William Woods University Student-Athlete of the Month Honors are awarded to the student-athletes who received the most votes. Each month, athletes are nominated by faculty, staff, and school personnel. These nominees are placed into the voting system and are selected based on the results of a panel of seven senior members of the athletic department.
