SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- William Woods women's tennis took the trek to tackle NCAA DII Drury University on Sunday morning, falling short in the contest 1-6.
The Owls managed to take the #2 doubles match with Kristina Dimitrijevic and Zara Littlejohn, besting their opponents by a 6-3 scoreline. However, the Panthers took wins in the #1 and #3 doubles to secure the point for Drury.
Drury carried that momentum over to singles play, losing only four sets. Two of those sets were won by each Mannon Grasset and Elise Vandewiele, who would go on to lose their matches in three sets. The lone victor for the Owls in singles play was Littlejohn, who was seeing her first singles action since her freshman year. The senior from Australia bested her #3 singles matchup by 6-2, 6-3 scorelines to earn her first individual win of the season.
The Woods returns to the court next week as the Owls take on five schools during their All-Kansas spring break trip. Stay tuned to wwuowls.com for scores from across the five-match sequence.
