COLUMBIA, Mo. - William Woods Men's Golf competed in their first invitational of the spring season at the Columbia Golf and Country Club. Five groups represented the Owls over the two days, including the A Team, which brought home the first top finish of 2026.
Of the 17 groups to compete in Columbia, William Woods had finishes at the 1st, 3rd, and 6th place marks. The A Team, comprised of
Spencer Worley,
Tim Falk,
Oliver Hienonen,
Eliott Auffret, and
Arthur Calmelet dominated the field with a combined score of +9. The next closest team was +35.
Worley led the charge for the Woods, shooting -5 on the opening day and even the next, resulting in a -5 finish despite the windy conditions. Falk and Hienonen followed close behind with scores of +1 and +2 respectively. Falk had a standout performance on day one, going two under. Auffret and Calmelet provided the rest of the scoring for the Owls, finishing at +11 and +13 and cementing the explosive performance by the group.
William Woods' C Team finished in 3rd place, just one stroke behind MACC at +36.
Nikolas Tieves was the front runner for the squad, finishing at +6. He was followed closely by
Marcos Soria Casaponsa at +7 and
Job Damen at +8.
As if two podium finishes were not enough, the Owls' B Team's finish solidified William Woods as 50% of the top six teams.
Joseph McCandless and
Alfred Goransson found success at the country club, shooting +8 and +9.
William Woods Men's Golf will look to continue a successful start to the spring season in St. Louis at the UHSP Invitational on March 16th and 17th.
