FREMONT, Neb. - William Woods Flag Football traveled to Nebraska for their third contest of the year versus Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Midland University. Despite three interceptions by the Owls defense, William Woods returned home with a record of 1-2 after the 32-12 loss to the Warriors.
WWU struggled to ignite any offense in Fremont, totaling just 109 total yards compared to 206 by MU. The Warriors controlled the contest the entire way, scoring their 32 before the Woods found their way into the end zone. The first touchdown for the Owls came via an interception by A'jah Smith that she returned 15 yards for the score. In their final possession, William Woods was able to pound in their only offensive touchdown on a one yard rush by
Jazzy Dunaway.
The Woods defense produced two more turnovers on the day.
Sam Menard intercepted a Midland pass in the first quarter and
Olivia Menard stole a pass in the fourth.
Addie Chilek converted the longest play for the Owls offense on a 31 yard rush attempt. Dunaway was the most successful receiver on five receptions for 25 yards to go along with her rushing touchdown.
William Woods Flag Football falls to 1-2 on the season and in conference play. The squad will look to bounce back in another KCAC matchup versus Graceland University in Iowa on Wednesday, Mar. 18th at 6 p.m.
