Owls Continue Home Stand Against AMC Foe Missouri Baptist On Saturday

The William Woods University women's soccer team will play the second game of a three-game home stand on Saturday as they host American Midwest Conference rival Missouri Baptist University. Saturday will be Senior Day at Firley Field as the Owls will recognize and honor the career of four players before the game. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.

Matchup
The Owls come into Saturday's contest in a fourth place tie in the AMC with Lyon College at 3-2-0. Overall, WWU is 7-6-1 on the year. Missouri Baptist is in sixth in the AMC with a 1-3-1 record and 4-10-1 overall on the year.

Last Time Out
William Woods defeated AMC foe Stephens College 5-0 on Wednesday night.

Jamie Palermo and Jordan McNamara each scored two goals in the game and senior Brittany Graue tallied her first goal of the season.

The game was suspended in the 71st minute due to unplayable field conditions.

Double Action
On Wednesday the Owls had two players (Jordan McNamara and Jamie Palermo) score a pair of goals. This is the second time this season on the year where two players scored a pair of goals in the same game. The first time was on Sept. 25 in the 7-0 victory over Benedictine University at Springfield, as Stephanie Kirvan and Brittany German each found the back of the net twice.

Coming On Of Late
After going scoreless in five straight games freshman Jordan McNamara has scored a total of three goals in the last four games.

Hot Streak
Junior Jamie Palermo has scored 11 points (5 goals, 1 assist) in the last six games.

Home Sweet Home
The Owls have their first extended home stand of the season. Saturday will be the second of three straight home games. WWU defeated Stephens College on Wednesday 5-0 and will host Park University next Tuesday, Oct. 23.

National Rankings
William Woods ranks in the top 30 in the NAIA in a pair of categories. The Owls are 26th in the nation in assists per game with a pace of 2.29 and rank 29th with 32 total assists.

Conference Rankings
As a team, the Owls rank third in the AMC in both goals/game (2.71) and assists/game (2.29).

Individually, four Owls rank in the top five across a number of different categories. Sophomore Ashley Deckard is third in the conference in both assists (8) and assists/game (0.57) on the year, with junior Kelly Abernathy coming in fifth in saves with 64. Senior Stephanie Kirvan and Jamie Palermo are tied for fifth in goals with eight, while Jordan McNamara is eighth in the league with seven goals on the year.

A Look At Missouri Baptist
The Spartans come into Saturday's matchup with a 4-11-1 record overall and a 1-3-1 mark in the AMC.  MBU is 0-4-1 over its last five games. Their last victory came on Sept. 22, a 14-0 win at Stephens College.

Missouri Baptist ranks fifth in the conference in goals/game (1.87) and sixth in goals allowed (2.33).

MBU is led offensively by Anna Recer and Megan Huffman with five goals apiece.
