Women's Soccer Looks For Its Fourth Consecutive AMC Win As The Team Hosts Harris-Stowe State University

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team looks to keep its hot winning streak going on Tuesday night, as the team hosts Harris-Stowe State University for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off.

The Owls (6-5-2; 5-1-2 AMC) come into Tuesday's American Midwest Conference match-up on a season-high three game winning stretch. During the streak, WWU has outscored those three opponents by a combined score of 11-1 and in two of the last three wins, the team has recorded stellar shutouts.

In the Owls last outing, the team overcame a hard fought defensive match-up and defeated Benedictine University at Springfield 1-0, Saturday afternoon. WWU amassed 17 shots on the day, while holding the Bulldogs to six.

Neither team could get the early momentum and find the back of the net, as the score remained scoreless after the first half, despite the Owls outshooting BU 8-1.

Then after 57:40 minutes of scoreless play, the Owls were able to get on the board, as Haley Pipes, connected with the Owls leading scorer, Jordan McNamara, giving WWU a 1-0 lead. The team would continue its stellar play the rest of the half and they went on for the one goal victory.

WWU defense displayed another strong outing on Saturday, as the team recorded its fourth shutout on the season. In the net, Brittany Griffin collected two saves on the day, pushing her season total to 58.

Brittainy German, Sarah Krispin and Rachel Meyer are all second on the team in goals, finding the back of the net four times, while Meyer leads the team in assists with five on the year.
