HENDERSON, Tenn.—The William Woods University women's soccer team will look to finish the 2014 regular season on a high note, as they search for its third straight win on Thursday, when the Owls visit Freed-Hardeman University. Kick-off will start at 5 p.m.
The Owls (9-6-2; 7-1-2 AMC), are coming off an impressive 6-0 victory on October 26
th, as they defeated Johnson & Wales University.
The team outshot the Wildcats 22-9 in the outing and were led by the duo of
Sarah Krispin and
Brittainy German, as they totaled two goals and one assist each.
Jamie Palermo also found the back of the net, while
Rachel Meyer scored one goal and added a team-high two assists.
With its win against JWU, the team has now won six out of its last seven games, while outscoring its opponents 24-4 and holding a shot advantage of 119-71.
During the last seven games on the pitch, Meyer has scored a team-high seven goals, while adding three assists for 17 points.
Jordan McNamara has earned six goals on 24 shots, while Krispin has contributed three and Palermo,
Amy Faus and German have totaled two.
In net,
Brittany Griffin and
Ashley Parisi have combined for a save percentage of .900 and a goals against average of .555 in 648:22 minutes played. Griffin has appeared in six games, totaling 30 saves, for a save percentage of .882 in 513:22 minutes played, while Parisi has played 135:00 minutes the last seven games, making six saves.
On the season, McNamara is pacing the Owls with a team-high 12 goals in 17 games, while also leading the team in points (28) and shots (58). Meyer has been on fire as of late, scoring five goals in four games, which now gives the Granite City, Illinois, native, nine on the year to go along with her seven assists.
Meyer's seven assists are tied for the team lead with reigning American Midwest Conference (AMC) Defensive Player of the Week,
Ashley Deckard, with five of her assists coming in the last six games.
In goal, Griffin has started 15 games, making 82 saves, while owning a goals against average of 1.48. Her games played, minutes, goals against average, saves and save percentage (.788), are all current career-high marks for the Mexico, Missouri, native.
This will be the third meeting all-time against the Lady Lions (7-7-1; 3-6 AMC), as the Owls have won the previous two match-ups, including last years' meeting, where WWU won 3-1, behind two goals scored from Meyer.
On the season, FHU is led by Taylor Jenkins, scoring a team-high nine goals in 18 games, while Julianne Renner and Kennedi Van Ravestein have added six and five goals respectively. Morgan Walls has scored four goals and is tied for the team lead with Renner in assists, having five.
In net, Abbey Adkins has made 88 saves in 1421:53 minutes played, has a goals against average of 2.53 and a save percentage of .688.
A win against the Lady Lions will give William Woods its eighth AMC win on the year, which will be a new program record.
