FULTON, Mo.- The William Woods University men's basketball team opens its American Midwest Conference (AMC) part of their schedule, as the team hosts Benedictine University at Springfield Saturday evening. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.

The Owls (2-4; 0-0 AMC) are coming off a key road victory, in a red-hot shooting night, which saw four players end the night in double digits. The lights out offense from William Woods closed the night shooting an impressive 68 percent from the field and a blistering 12-of-19 (63 percent) from downtown, as the team defeated Missouri Valley College 97=92.

Leading the night for the Owls, with two stellar performances, were
Nate Bitner and
Ryan Hill, as they both finished the night with a career high 25 points. Hill, the St. Louis native went 8-of-9 from the field, 5-of-6 from beyond the arc and was perfect from the charity line (4-of-4). Bitner, the senior forward, was also red hot from the three-point line going 5-of-9, shooting a 58.8 percent from the field and recorded a team-high seven assists.

Austin Lowery, the St. Charles native, ended the night going 5-of-7 from the field and shooting a 50 percent from downtown, and also handed out five assists in the match-up.
DJ Johnson was the fourth Owl to end the night in double-digits, with 10 points, while he led the team with eight rebounds.

Beginning AMC play, the Owls are shooting a 47.9 percent from the field, led by
Ryan Hill, who is having a break out sophomore year, averaging 13 points per game and shooting a 67 percent from the fioor. Bitner, a Kearney, Missouri native, is off to a strong senior season, netting 12 points per game and shooting a 43 percent from beyond the arc.

Alec Mulvihill has moved his average up to 10.8 points per game, while
DJ Johnson has been a factor to the start of the season, averaging 10.7 points per game and has grabbed down a team-high 45 rebounds (7.5 per game).

Benedictine University at Springfield is currently 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the AMC, coming off a three game win streak. In its last outing, the Bulldogs captured its first AMC victory, as the team defeated Missouri Baptist University 79-70 earlier this week.

BU is putting up 74.7 points per game and shooting a 47 percent from the field thus far on the year. The Bulldogs are led offensively by Darius Stallworth averaging 13.6 points per game and shooting a 49 percent from the floor. Another key player for BU is Stephan Shepherd, who is averaging 11.3 points per game and leads the team on the boards with 35 on the year (5.8 per game).

Last year's match-ups, the Owls dropped both games to the Bulldogs, therefore WWU will be looking for some redemption and its first AMC win of the season.
