FULTON, Mo.- The William Woods University men's basketball team looks to improve in American Midwest Conference (AMC) standings Thursday night as the team plays host to Lyon College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Owls (4-7; 1-3 AMC) are coming off a quick turn around, as the team was defeated 74-53, Tuesday night to the hands of No. 10 ranked Freed-Hardeman University.

In the first half, the Owls jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead within the first two minutes of the game, after
Ryan Hill collected the Owls first field goal in the paint. Then
Klayton Kuschel forced a Lion turnover and connected with teammate,
DJ Johnson, who converted for two points. However, that would be the only time WWU would have the advantage in the American Midwest Conference match-up.

On the night, William Woods finished shooting 32 percent from the field, led by
Alec Mulvihill with 12 points on 5-for-12 shooting. Hayes and Hill both contributed nine points on the night, while
Nate Bitner added eight points.

Despite a cold night of shooting, the Owls defense held the Lion's leading scorer, Cameron Lewis to just five points but didn't have an answer for Ben Meis, as the guard collected a game-high 25 points on 8-for-14 shooting and going an astounding 6-for-11 from downtown.

On the season, Johnson leads the Owls offensively, averaging 12.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He is shooting 55 percent from the floor, which is 27
th best in the NAIA. The forward also leads the team in blocks with nine on the season.

Sophomore, Hill is right behind Johnson in scoring, as the St. Louis native is averaging 11.7 points per game, shooting 55 percent from the field and has hit 12-of-26 from beyond the arc. Senior,
Nate Bitner has contributed 10.4 points per game and has collected 41 rebounds on the season.

Lyon College is currently 7-4 on the season and sitting in fourth place in the AMC with a 4-1 record. The Scots are on a three game winning streak, in its last outing they defeated Benedictine University at Springfield in a down to wire game, 67-65.

LC averages 65.5 points per game, while holding opponents to just 58 points per game. The Scots are shooting 48 percent from the field and 43 percent from the three-point arc, leading the way is forward, Ben Worlow, who is averaging 19 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

Two other Scots that William Woods will have to keep an eye on are Devonte Young and Riley Jenkins, as both are shooting over 45 percent from beyond the arc and averaging 12.8 and 10.5 points per game, respectively.
