JOPLIN, Mo. -- The William Woods University baseball team ended the Joplin Tournament on a high note, as they were able to avenge its only loss of the season by defeating Viterbo University 7-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Nick Spagnola led the way for the William Woods (8-1) offense, as he went 2-for-4 and drove in a game-high three runs. Cody Stewart collected three hits in his four at-bats on the day and collected one RBI. The speed centerfielder also swiped two bags on the day and scored a run. As a team, the Owls collected 10 hits on the day.
Bubba Bradshaw was able to collect his first win of the 2014 season by tossing five innings of shutout baseball. The senior only gave up three hits in the game.
The Owls return to action on Wednesday, as they take on future American Midwest Conference foe Lindenwood University-Belleville in doubleheader action. First pitch from Belleville, Ill., is set for 1 p.m.
