CANTON, Mo. -- The William Woods University baseball team scored a combined 10 runs in the sixth and seventh innings to help keep its perfect record in mid-week games intact, as they scored the 10-9 come-from-behind victory against Culver-Stockton College on Tuesday afternoon.

Culver-Stockton (16-16) was cruising through the game's first five innings, as they held a 6-0 lead with starter Jeff Baude holding William Woods (25-8) to just one hit. The Wildcats decided to end Baude's day after the fifth, and that would prove to be a costly decision, as the Owls scored 10 runs on 11 hits in four innings against the C-SC bullpen.

WWU took advantage of Baude's removal from the game by scoring eight times in the sixth inning to take an 8-6 lead. The Wildcats would strike back with three runs in the bottom of the frame to retake the lead at 9-8.

William Woods added two more runs in the seventh, as the duo of Dylan Hastings and James Ball kept Culver-Stockton off the scoreboard in the game's final 2.1 innings to help their team score the 10-9 victory, and the sweep of the season series between the two schools.

Hastings was able to pick up the win for WWU, as he tossed 1.1 innings of shutout ball after coming into the game with two outs in the sixth inning. The victory is the Vista, Calif., native's third of the year, and his 1.1 shutout innings extends his shutout streak to 6.2 innings over his last four games.

Ball followed Hastings, and allowed just two hits in two innings to pick up his ninth save of the year.

Derek Schwab suffered the loss for Culver-Stockton after allowing two runs on two hits in just 0.1 innings pitched.

Sam Moon, Zach Nichols, Dustin Kremer, and Kyle Switzer each collected two hits on the day to lead the William Woods offense.  Matt Thomas was also able to pick up a hit in his two at-bats to extend his hitting streak to 10 games.

Kremer drove in a game-high three runs in his five at-bats. The three RBI now gives the Wardsville, Mo., native nine RBI over his last four games.

Danny Carroll and Cody Jacobson each picked up three of C-SC's 14 hits on the day to lead the team on the afternoon.

The Owls will return to American Midwest Conference play this weekend, as they will entertain No. 3 Missouri Baptist University for a critical three-game set at Owls Field. The Spartans enter this weekend's series in first place in the AMC. William Woods is currently tied for third in AMC play with Lyon College.
