WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – The William Woods University women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, as they pay a visit to Williams Baptist College for an 11 a.m. kick-off.

The Owls (2-4-1: 1-0-1 AMC) are coming off a week of preparation after falling to (RV) Missouri Valley College 4-0 last week.

WWU held the strong offense of the Vikings scoreless for the first 20 minutes of the matchup, despite being outshot 25-4 on the night.

The Vikings leading scorer, Inma Martinez collected her tenth goal of the season at the 20:44 mark, as she took a pass from teammate Kendra Clamors, to give MVC a 1-0 lead.

The Owls defense was able to hold Missouri Valley scoreless for the remainder of the half, but it didn't come easy, as the Vikings collected 15 first half shots to just three for WWU.

Coming out of the second half, the Owls continued to hold the Vikings to just one goal until the 72nd minute when Andrea Garcia scored her third goal of the season from teammate Belen Lafuente, extending the Vikings lead 2-0.

Shortly after, Garcia scored her second goal of the night, as she found the back of the net at the 73:08 minute, giving the Vikings a 3-0 advantage.
With only two minutes remaining in the game, MVC forward, Katlyn Jaques, poked another goal past WWU goaltender,
Brittany Griffin, securing the Vikings a 4-0 victory.

Ashley Deckard and
Rachel Meyer.

In the net for the Owls, American Midwest Conference (AMC) Defensive Player of the Week, Griffin, recorded a new career-high saves with 12 on the night, pushing her total to 40 on the season.

In last years' matchup against WBC, it was all WWU, as the Owls controlled both sides of the ball, outshooting the Eagles 63-1, as the team defeated WBC 9-0 in dominating fashion.

Senior,
Jamie Palermo, led the team as she recorded her second hat trick of her career. The Santa Fe, New Mexico native, wasn't the only Owl to score multiple goals, as Meyer collected her first career two-goal game. McNamara also contributed with a goal and handed out two assists.

The Eagles (2-6: 1-3 AMC) return leading scorer Stacey Mario, who finished the 2013 season with six goals and tallied 26 shots on the year.

William Baptist is currently 2-6 on the season, as they sit in 10
th place in the American Midwest Conference standings with a 1-3 AMC record. In its last outing, the Eagles fell to AMC opponent Freed-Hardeman University 3-0. Mario, recorded four of the team's seven shots, pushing her total to 27 on the season, which leads the Eagles.

Mario, a Greenbier, Arkansas native, leads the Eagles this season offensively, as she has collected four goals and tallied 27 shots on the year. Freshman, Maria Ramirez, is second on the team in goals (one) and shots (21). In the net, freshman, Abagail Bormann, has recorded 45 saves and earned a goals against average of 1.44
